NSX for your time

I was browsing ETD tire for a 215/45/17 tire with the specifics it can be a summer tire or an all season tire but more performance orientated. They sent me the following tires to look at:

Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2

BFGoodrich - g Force Sport Comp 2

BFGoodrich - g Force Comp 2 A/S

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3

Continental ExtremeContact DWS06

Do any Oppo’s have experience/preference from the list of above tires? I, of course, am open to all suggestions. I only asked ETD to send me a list as there is one 2 blocks from my house.

Much love and thanks Oppo

I run the DWSs on my Saab TurboX. For an all-season tire, they’re pretty great - as good in the snow as any tire this side of a dedicated winter I’ve yet driven. Amazing wet weather performance. So/so dry grip. And, they seem to be holding up really well. I’ve got about 20k miles on this set and they’ll easily last until winter.

That said, I run Michelin Pilot Super Sorts on the VW R32, and I love love love them as a dedicated summer.

I’m looking at tires too.

I have the DWS06 on my 328i, great all season tires. Lots of grip, good in wet/dry, lots of life, BUT they have super soft sidewalls. Makes the steering less sharp and the turn in isn’t as nice as before. I’ve heard the G-force comp 2's are the best performance all season, I'm thinking about ordering a set myself.

They are pretty solid in the snow, but yeah steering feel is important to me so I'm not gonna be throwing these on my 335i. The car has runflats standard, which suck besides how awesome the handling is with the super stiff sidewalls.

I don’t plan to run these late into the Fall, I’ll get a good all season on my stock Si’s once the weather chills

If these will only be used into fall, I’ve heard hankook ventus v12's are a great budget summer option.

I have a set of the Pilot Sport AS3s on my FiST, and had a set on my MINI. They work pretty well, not the best dry grip but I haven’t had problems in the rain. Have done some snow, they are manageable but certainly not ideal. Not too noisy and I’ll assume about the same feel as that tire size is very near the FiST.

I am pretty much a die-hard continental guy, they have been the shoes all my DD have worn and have saved my ass whether dealing with sunshine, rain, snow, sleet or hail. They aren’t the most performance oriented on the list but they certainly hold their own. They are very versatile and last for a while.

I have the DWSo6 on my wife’s 328i and I’ve found no complaints thus far....though it’s only been 3 or 4 months and I drive the car sparingly. They were on the car when purchased but brand new. Just did my longest trip over the weekend in it and the tires didn’t stand out so I consider that a plus. From the reviews I read it seems like an OK tire to get caught in the winter with but I’d put winter tires on her car had I not a Subaru with Snows on it in the driveway.

When prices are either similar or not an issue I tend to go Michelin over all other brands. Most times they have the best tread life and ride. If the Michelin were off this list I’d choose the Conti.

The Michelin’s are the most expensive, the BF Goodrich’s are some of the cheapest

I think if price is key I’d go with the most reasonably priced of those listed as I don’t think you’d notice a great deal of performance difference on the street. Michelin, in my experience, can give you a long enough tread life to justify the expense over the others, and every time I’ve chosen them I notice the smoother ride. But sometimes they just aren’t in the budget, and the others listed are all good choices.

Dollar for dollar can't beat an RE-71r for a performance tire

I know its not on your list, but the Michelin super sport is made in that size and will pretty much destroy any other tire. Price-wise they should be right around the sport A/S 3(possibly even slightly cheaper), and they also wear surprisingly well. My rears last me around 30-35k with quite a few HPDE’s mixed in with my daily driving.

Comp 2's are an excellent performance tire that lasts quite long. I have had them on 2 different cars, and while they are not a crazy extreme performance tire(like the direzza star specs i have on my mustang now), they offer really good performance, feel and durability.Never had experience with any of the others.

currently have Comp 2 a/s on the Miata. Good grip and lets you know when they are giving up. Have had Ventus V12's on my 300whp dsm and bought them for project ls swap rx7.

I have the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 on my Genesis now.. it’s very quiet, and pretty grippy. They are expensive, but I feel they are worth it.. also based on the high treadlife. They do feel good in every condition though.
